The Alpine Battalion Walk. Peñalara

This circular walk tells the story of a group of Republican soldiers during the Spanish Civil War. For years these soldiers had to endure the harsh conditions of life in the trenches on this front.

We will climb up to Cotos on the Zetas way which takes us via a mountain spring until we reach the “Little Sister” peak at 2,269 metres. From there we will ascend to the Peñalara peak at 2,428 metres and make our way to the trenches before returning through a pine forest . This is a great historic walk with spectacular views.
